Boulder Philharmonic Intern Job Description

Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) is pleased to offer internships in development (fundraising), marketing, and ticketing each year. These internships can be semester long, averaging about 10-15 hours a week. BPO interns are directly involved in development, special events, and work alongside experienced professionals, community members, and an extensive network of resources within the Boulder cultural community. As a team player, an intern gains solid professional skills while providing research support, assisting in grant proposal development, helping with events, and facilitating day-to-day work at the BPO. Projects include but not limited to:

  • Maintaining donor database: enter donations into system, pull donor lists, mail merge them into letters and/or labels, and other general tasks
  • Assisting in writing/sending acknowledgement letters
  • Assisting with direct mail fundraising efforts
  • Conducting background research on potential or current donors (individuals, foundations, and corporations)
  • Special Events-Assist with the logistical planning, development of and follow-up for special events (i.e. annual free concerts and gala). Research and maintain general information/files on current and potential sponsors
  • Ticketing-sell single tickets, subscriptions, and group sales
  • Assisting with Marketing and Education projects/programs: online calendars, mass mailings, proof-reading, and promotions. Other responsibilities might include writing, research, and/or design.

Strong writing, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail are required. Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word is a plus.

We need people with positive attitudes and a willingness to learn. At the end of the experience, the intern should have a good idea of many of the working aspects in a dynamic, hard-working and small non-profit organization.
