Richard Oldberg was born into a musical family. His grandfather, Arne Oldberg, was a teacher and composer. His aunt Hilda Edwards appeared extensively as a concert pianist. Oldberg attended Harvard, where he conducted the Harvard Opera Guild's famous production of Strauss' Die Fledermaus. Upon graduating summa cum laude from Northwestern University, he joined the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, where he spent over thirty years, working with many great conductors of our time, including Fritz Reiner, Sir George Solti, Zubin Mehta, James Levine, Leonard Bernstein and Daniel Barenboim. Mr. Oldberg currently lives in Estes Park.
