Clarinet phenom Richard Stoltzman performs Aaron Copland’s popular, jazzy concerto, surrounded by toe-tapping music by Leonard Bernstein and Naropa composer/pianist Bill Douglas. Douglas wrote these two pieces for Stoltzman, a longtime collaborator, and they perform together on the program. This evening of music from America closes with Dvořák’s stunning New World Symphony.
“Stoltzman is the preeminent soloist on the clarinet today. He is a musician of flawless taste, one with few rivals anywhere on any instrument.” ~The Washington Post
