Panufnik–Hommage à Chopin
Chopin–Piano Concerto No. 2 in f minor ![]()
Bizet–Symphony in C Major ![]()
We celebrate the 200th anniversary of Chopin’s birth with a musical homage to this ambitious composer written by Panufnik, a Polish composer, and Chopin’s second piano concerto. Chopin wrote this youthful concerto, to be performed by longtime Boulder favorite Angela Cheng, when he was 20 years old. Bizet’s symphony is a student work, written when he was only 17! Unpublished, unknown and not performed until the 1930s, this piece by the man who wrote the famous opera Carmen is a lively, tuneful, charming work that will be recognizable to many.
