
Max Richter’s transformation of Vivaldi’s beloved The Seasons has all the flavor of the original, but with added spice that transforms the experience into something altogether new and exciting. Concertmaster Charles Wetherbee stars in this all-strings program that also includes Britten’s energetic Simple Symphony and Jessie Montgomery’s bubbly and inventive Strum – a piece that The Washington Post describes as, “turbulent, wildly colorful and exploding with life.”

Phil Artistic Partner and audience favorite, Simone Dinnerstein rocketed to international fame following the phenomenal success of her debut recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations. Bach never heard the modern piano, but one imagines that he would be delighted to hear his best-known works brought to life by Simone as she leads this extraordinary evening. Flutist Christina Jennings joins Simone for two of the composer’s best-known works.

Equally versed in both classical and jazz worlds as a recitalist, concerto soloist, chamber-music collaborator, and performer of his own electrifying jazz compositions, Mr. López-Gavilán is praised for his “dazzling technique and rhythmic fire” and joins us from his home in Cuba.
