The Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra will collaborate with Greater Boulder Youth Orchestras and the Midori Orchestra Residencies Program (ORP) to bring the outstanding violinist and educator Midori to Boulder for a five-day immersive residency. Through a competitive selection process, the Boulder Phil and GBYO were chosen from a national pool of applicants to host the residency this year and are committed to maximizing the community impact and cultural value of the residency for Boulder residents.
Throughout her career, Midori has been devoted to working with youth and communities in a way that few performing artists of her caliber can claim. Through the ORP, she visits one or two mid-sized communities each year to share her impressive artistry and inclusive vision of the vital role that music and the arts can play – not only in the concert hall, but across the entire community and in the life of every citizen.
While in Boulder, Midori will perform concerts with both the Boulder Phil and with GBYO at Macky Auditorium, engage in numerous community-facing events focused on youth and civic engagement, and participate in a world premiere of a work composed especially for the residency by Daniel Kellogg. The City of Boulder recognized Midori with an official commendation.

Come As You Are!
Back in 1964 you may have received a phone call inviting you to a party – but there was a catch – you had to wear exactly what you had on at that moment! Come As You Are harkens back to a time when showing up to a party in your pajamas or gardening hat was out of the ordinary, but it certainly added a dose of levity to the evening!
On October 10, 2020, at 6:30 pm the Boulder Philharmonic invites you to Come As You Are for a lighthearted, imaginative evening featuring virtual performances by members of the Boulder Philharmonic and guest artists, a silent auction, and a delicious gourmet dinner by Three Leaf Concepts delivered to your home!
Free to Attend, Suggested Donation $100
