Musical Hike: The Music of Landscapes – Creation of the World @ East Boulder Recreation Center
Oct 8 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

The Boulder Phil and the Boulder County Audubon Society partner to connect community members with the natural world through music, as Interpretive Naturalist Dave Sutherland leads music-themed nature hikes in Boulder’s beautiful outdoor spaces. The Audubon Society is one of the world’s oldest non-profit environmental organizations dedicated to the conservation of birds and their habitat. These hikes are free and open to the public.

Rich with meaning and memories, our favorite landscapes speak to us in many ways: joy, beauty, nostalgia, awe, even dissonance. How do composers capture the essence of the land in music? Join naturalist Dave Sutherland for a beautiful fall colors hike to sample music that invokes our sense of place, including works to be featured at future Boulder Philharmonic concerts this season. How would you express your memories of your favorite landscapes through music? Meet at the front of the East Boulder Recreation Center for an easy hike along South Boulder Creek.

To sign-up, please email Dave Sutherland at dsutherland4747@gmail.com. Hikes are limited to 20 people.

Per the CDC and State of Colorado and Boulder County Public Health, most public health orders are now lifted. Face coverings are no longer required for fully vaccinated individuals on our field trips. Those who are not fully vaccinated are required to wear a face covering. Those who are fully vaccinated may choose whether or not to wear a face covering.
