Musical Hike: The Music of Landscapes: Gritty & Pretty @ Shanahan Ridge
Oct 12 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Musical Hike: The Music of Landscapes: Gritty & Pretty @ Shanahan Ridge | Boulder | Colorado | United States

The Boulder Phil and the City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks (OSMP) have created an ongoing collaboration to connect community members with the natural world through music. This partnership includes guided musical hikes designed to complement specific works to be performed by the Boulder Phil. The hikes are free and open to the public.

Rich with meaning and memories, our favorite landscapes speak to us in many ways: joy, beauty, nostalgia, awe, even dissonance. How do composers capture the essence of the land in music? At its next concert, the Boulder Philharmonic will explore both the gritty and the pretty nature of landscapes with works by Jon Lord and Jonny Greenwood. Join OSMP naturalist Dave Sutherland for a pre-concert hike to sample this and other music that invokes our sense of place.

Meet at the Lehigh Street entrance to Shanahan Ridge (map search 1903 Lehigh in Boulder, where Lehigh and Lafayette Streets intersect). This location is served by the southbound SKIP bus.

Registration is not required for this activity, but by clicking this link to sign up, you will receive a reminder and updates about this program.
