This special evening features Margaret Dyer Harris, Boulder Phil principal violist, alongside pianist Damien Krzyzek in a beautifully curated program, from the depth of Shostakovich to the charm of a lively showpiece.

MARGARET DYER HARRIS, Principal Viola

Margaret Dyer Harris has crafted an eclectic career as a recording artist, entrepreneur, chamber musician, arts advocate, and educator. She was recently named Principal Violist of the Boulder Philharmonic and she has been the Assistant Principal violist of the Santa Fe Opera since 2015. An artist on multiple GRAMMY™ award winning records in multiple genres, Margaret was a founding member of the GRAMMY™-nominated chamber orchestra, “A Far Cry,” the Boston based conductor-less string ensemble. Before moving to Denver, CO in 2020, Margaret was the solo violist in Wicked on Broadway and she was a member of the New York Pops Orchestra. She was a guest violist with the New York Philharmonic, The Metropolitan Opera, and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. An active and passionate chamber musician, Margaret has been featured at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, Le Festival de Musique de Saint Barthélemy, the Denver Chamber Music Festival, and countless national and international festivals. She has taught masterclasses in Mexico, England, Peru, United Arab Emirates, Scotland, and all across the United States.

DAMIEN KRZYZEK, Piano

Damien Krzyzek has performed with members of the Boston Symphony, the Saint Louis Symphony, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and the Borromeo and Verona Quartets. He has appeared at Tanglewood Music Festival, Jordan Hall, and made his German debut in a program of David Amram’s chamber music in Karlsruhe. He can be heard on the 2017 Albany Records release Living in Light with soprano Margot Rood, saxophonist Ken Radnofsky, trumpeter Seelan Manickam, and composer Heather Gilligan. From 2007 to 2022, Damien served on the faculty of New England Conservatory, teaching collaborative piano, recital coaching, diction, and opera. He has played and coached more than forty productions with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Opera Colorado. Since returning to Colorado in 2022, he has led the Denver/Boulder chapter of Music for Food, an international initiative combating food insecurity.
